‘Macron, step down!’: Protesters clash with police during Bastille Day parade in Paris

Clashes erupted between riot police and anti-government protesters in Paris on Sunday, as Bastille Day celebrations got underway. As the protest escalated, demonstrators were seen setting objects alight, with riot police using pepper spray to disperse protesters.

A number of protesters were injured. ‘Yellow Vests’ were reportedly among the protesters after their rally was banned in the French capital.

This year’s Bastille Day marks the 230th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille during the French Revolution and commemorates the fall of the monarchy by a mass uprising.
