If recent episodes are anything to go by then the two hot contenders for News Breakfast co-hosting roles are ABC’s Bridget Brennan and Emma Rebellato.
Both have undertaken multiple hosting duties in place of Lisa Millar, who announced her departure yesterday after five years on air.
Both Brennan and Rebellato have tackled morning television’s Live diet of news, politics, business, arts, science, medical and more. On the ABC show the demands are compounded by the absence of ad breaks.
Bridget Brennan (pictured left) is currently newsreader, and credited as a co-host on News Breakfast.
She was previously the ABC’s Indigenous Affairs Editor, Europe Correspondent in London and the National Indigenous Affairs Correspondent. She’s covered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities for more than a decade and is a Dja Dja Wurrung and Yorta Yorta woman.
South Australian-born, Emma Rebellato (pictured right) joined the ABC in 2008, and has covered events ranging from bushfires and politics to sport. After graduating from UniSA with a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism), she worked in the Riverland and Adelaide radio before becoming the first breakfast newsreader at Nova 919.
ABC is yet to announce Millar’s successor. She departs on August 23.
