Queensland brothers Rhys and Liam Almond have won Dream Home and taken out a $100,000 prize in the season final.

Their tropical backyard renovation scored 37.5 out of 40 points, pipping Lara & Peter on 37 points. Sisters Taeler and Elle scored 31 points.

“Rhys and I are mates, but we got to be brothers again, living under the one roof. Doing this with Rhys was one of the most meaningful and exciting things about the competition,” said Liam.

“We’re coming away from this very proud of every moment, and we’re both walking away as winners.”

“Taking $100,000 off my mortgage is going to be life-changing for myself and my family, and that means the world to me,” said Rhys.

Following the show’s renovation their dilapidated Deception Bay Queenslander is now valued at $1.6 million.

“Boys, I felt like I’d stepped into a complete oasis. You absolutely created a tropical dream out there, perfect for a Queensland setting,” said judge Lana Taylor.

Simon Cohen said, “You created a whole separate living area, which is just a massive tick for any family home.”

Rosie Morley added the pavilion’s scale in relation to the home, all “worked in harmony.”
