A Melbourne student may never have to work after scooping a $4.8 million lottery prize.

The man from Campbellfield, aged in his 20s, won a Set for Life prize of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

It’ll land in his bank account on the 15th of every month for the next two decades.

He only bought the ticket online a few minutes before the draw, using the Quick Pick option.

“I have butterflies in my stomach. It’s so unexpected, ” he told The Lott bosses when they phoned about his win.

“I bought the ticket at the very last minute, and I nearly didn’t go through with it.

“It wasn’t until I was going to bed last night around 11pm that I decided to see how my ticket went. I was expecting division four or five, not division one.”

The lucky man told lottery bosses he would invest the prize for the future and pay off his degree.

“I haven’t thought of any immediate plans just yet but I’m thinking I might invest the prize,” he said.

“I’m also studying my master’s degree and will need to pay off my student loans.

“Maybe I’ll buy a house, go on a holiday and also a new car but I need to have a think about it all.”
