Two men have been rushed to hospital in Western Australia after their boat was reportedly struck by a whale.

Emergency services received a report that two men had been injured in an incident about 6.55pm yesterday.

A marine rescue craft was deployed to their location, which was about 15-18 kilometres off the coast of Kalbarri.

The men’s boat was located and escorted back to the shore by DFES.

A 69-year-old and a 39-year-old man were treated by St John WA and taken to Kalbarri Hospital.

Police said the 69-year-old was believed to have been seriously injured in the incident.

About 6am today he was taken to Royal Perth Hosppital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
