If you’re heading off on a long flight you’ve no doubt loaded up your device with movies and TV downloads from Netflix, Disney+, Stan, Paramount+, Apple TV+, Prime Video, Hayu, Acorn TV or BritBox.

But why doesn’t Binge allow for the same?

Back in 2016 Foxtel even introduced the technology on a (now defunct) Foxtel Kids app.

“In a preview to the future of Foxtel Go, it will allow kids and their parents to download programs and store them on a tablet or mobile device for up to 31 days,” said then CEO Peter Tonagh.

In fact it was even teased back in 2009.

But Foxtel’s promise still rings hollow all these years later.

Despite the fees subscribers are paying Foxtel Go does not offer offline downloads.

Neither does Binge, which really leaves a sour taste around the plentiful Binge advertising at major airports. Sorry you can’t watch us in the air, but please subscribe when you have wifi.

Nor are there any plans to rectify this soon, perhaps with too much distraction by Hubbl.

A Foxtel spokesperson told TV Tonight, “We’ve prioritised other features in our product roadmap.”
