After 7 years, 10 has relented on its starting time for The Sunday Project, set to move back by 30 minutes to allow reality and entertainment shows to kick off at 7pm.

A Network 10 spokesperson said, “From August 18, The Sunday Project is moving to an earlier timeslot. Now you can catch Sarah Harris, Hamish Macdonald, Michael Hing and a string of special guests from 6pm to 7pm every Sunday night. Your daily dose of news delivered differently remains the same on weekdays, with The Project airing from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, Monday to Friday.”

It has screened in a 6:30pm slot since 2017 (after a short-lived half hour edition at 6pm in 2012).

In the intervening years Seven and Nine have since moved big reality franchises to a 7pm start time. While 10 preferred 7:30 starts for the sake of consistency, it was getting a hiding in ratings. Audiences had proven they were well-educated in the different starting times between Sundays and weeknights, finally leading to 10 giving its shows an equal start.

TV Tonight has filed on the need to move The Sunday Project to 6pm in 2022 and 2024.
