A man has been charged in India after allegedly sexually abusing and intimidating an Australian girl on Instagram and WhatsApp.
Western Australian detectives were told in 2023 about a 2020 incident involving a then-11-year-old girl.
She was allegedly the victim of grooming, sextortion, and other online offences.

This continued for several years, police allege.
Police were able to track the alleged offender to India and referred the matter to Indian authorities via Interpol.
Indian police arrested and charged a man from Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

He was charged with criminal indication, transmitting child abuse material, and sexually harassing a child.
Police urge any victims of abuse or anybody with information to contact police on 131 444, report the information online at Safe2Say, or contact the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation.
