Two experienced pilots who died in a collision in Western Australia’s Kimberley region have been remembered as “two of the best mates any could ask for”.
Peter Ritter, 29, and Gavin U’Ren, 30, were each in helicopters mustering cattle at Mount Anderson Station in Camballin about 6.20am (AWST) yesterday.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said four helicopters had taken off when Ritter and U’Ren’s collided.

Ritter was a talented photographer who grew up on a farm in New South Wales while U’Ren was a proud uncle originally from Northam.
Both men loved the outback and flying.
Loved ones have paid tribute to the pair online.
“Our hearts are broken. I always loved flying with these boys, either sharing the cockpit or sharing the job because you just knew that you were working with the best,” one person wrote.

“Two of the best mates any could ask for and now always airborne with us,” another said.
“Absolutely devastating news, we were only a couple of weeks off knocking back a few beers together. Going to miss you fellas,” a third added..
“Rest easy brother hope you give them hell up there mustering that dream herd we were all chasing,” a fourth wrote.
