Two bunk bed models have been pulled from sale after it was found the top level could crash onto the bottom due to a manufacturing defect.

The Mason Tyler bunk bed from T and R Sports has been issued a product recall notice.

The model numbers FURNI-BUNKBED-CD-QNHT-WHT and FURNI-BUNKBED-CD-QNHT-GRAY are affected.

Both are solid timber bunk beds with stairs and storage drawers.

Product Safety Australia said due to a manufacturing defect, the stair handrail and main support bars were “not sufficiently strengthened” and could break during use.

“There is a risk of serious injuries from falls, crushing or entrapment if the handrail or main support bars break during use,” the recall notice said.

Customers should stop using the stairs and the top bunk immediately.

They are urged to contact T and R Sports with their order number and purchase date to receive a full refund, repair, or replacement parts.
