With two seasons of Stuff the British Stole completed, host and producer Marc Fennell is hoping for a third, and a spin-off.
Stuff the French Stole? Stuff the Spanish Stole perhaps?
“I’ve already done the development on what I would hope is the first spin-off. It’s none of the ones you mentioned, but it is something that everybody cares about,” Fennell told TV Tonight.
“Stuff the Spanish Stole, is probably a good example (because) there’s a whole world of Spanish speakers that are not in Spain. So that would strike me as a fairly obvious one that could be done, thinking about South America and all those sorts of places.
“I’d like to do a third series of Brits first, but there is an English speaking spin-off. When we were shooting the show I sort of kicked the tyres to see if I thought there was any life in it. I came back with a good 8 to 10 episodes that were different and distinct. But it really is dependent on the audience and how this one goes.”
One challenge would be finding a French or Spanish broadcaster to fund the show, surely…
“The hardest place to shoot the show is London,” he reveals. “I mean, the moment the title appears on (a request) it’s like, ‘No, I couldn’t possibly be involved in the show with that title.’ And that’s fine. It doesn’t bother me anymore, because we’ve been doing it for so long.”
Stuff the British Stole is now available on ABC iview.
