Minns spoke to 2GB’s Ben Fordham today and confirmed the Sydney event would take place about mid-day on September 13.
“We can’t wait to welcome all the Olympians back, the gold medallists as well as everyone who competed and represented their country,” Minns said.
“We’re looking forward to doing just that on the 13th of September when all the Olympians and Paralympians are back in town.”
Minns confirmed that the Australian Olympic Committee was working with the NSW Government to organise the event.
The time and location for Melbourne’s celebration has not yet been set.

Lord Mayor Nick Reece said it could take a number of forms, including a street party in Bourke Street Mall.
“I would love for there to be a huge celebration in Federation Square,” Reece said at last night’s council meeting.
“Nothing unites Australians like the Olympics – and we will invite all Melburnians to come into the city to help us welcome home our amazing athletes.”
The council is working with the Victorian Government to make the party happen.
Brisbane City Council has been contacted for comment.
