Samantha Armytage has again taken to social media to deny magazine reports, the latest which centred around her departure from Seven and Farmer Wants a Wife hosting.
Woman’s Day suggested she was still earning ‘breakfast TV money from an old contract’ in relation to the dating show.
“She was asking for what Sonia gets paid for three shows. It wasn’t going to happen. Seven just didn’t have the money,” an unnamed source suggested.
“They went on to say that Seven also refused to allow Sam more ‘creative control’ on the reality TV series, which also soured the media personality.”
But Armytage responded to at least two points raised.
“Another day, another WRONG tabloid story I usually don’t give oxygen to incorrect gossip – as it would take up most of my time – but today’s article is SO false, it deserves my attention,” she posted on Instagram.
“My recent decision to leave 7 was about a fresh start, after 21 successful years at the network. No one else’s salary was discussed during my negotiations, & at NO STAGE did I ask for ‘creative control’ of Farmer (The producers do a wonderful job of managing that..). I’m very proud of all I achieved at 7, & the fabulous TV I made. You all know better than to believe the bullsh*t, but sometimes a girl just has to stand up for herself.”
Last year Armytage told TV Tonight she was often unfairly the subject of clickbait articles, especially during her Sunrise days.
“I lead a fairly quiet life in the bush and keep to myself, and then you sort of dip your toe back in when it comes back into television and it all flares up again. I guess that’s all part of it. I’m trying to make peace with the press attention,” she said.
