Star Wars: The Acolyte is not returning for a second season.
Variety reports Lucasfilm has elected not to continue with the Disney+ series following its first season, which depicted the rise of the Sith roughly 100 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
A Season 1 finale ended on a cliffhanger and teased several plotlines for Season 2 but will now not be resolved.
After its June premiere the series drew wildly opposing reception from fans and the less-than-robust viewership that appeared to drop off.
On Rotten Tomatoes it scored 78% from critics but only 18% from viewers.
The series starred Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
