9News Adelaide has announced a new presenting lineup for weekends.
Alice Monfries will partner with Will McDonald -the first time the bulletin has had co-anchors on weekends.
McDonald has been at the helm of the weekend bulletin since 2011.
Jeremy Pudney, Director of 9News Adelaide, said: “Nine’s commitment to local news is unwavering, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The addition of an experienced, high-quality journalist and person like Alice to our already strong weekend team shows just how seriously we take that commitment.”
Alice Monfries said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Will and the weekend team to bring the news that matters most to South Australians. I’m passionate about our state and care deeply about quality journalism.
“It is an honour to be part of a team delivering credible, trustworthy information, and to sit alongside Will, an experienced journalist, respected presenter, and also my good friend.
“We share a love for news, the outdoors and the joys of raising our young families in this beautiful state, and share plenty of laughs and parenting tips. I’m looking forward to sitting together every weekend as we keep South Australians informed on everything they need to know.”
Will McDonald said: “I have many wonderful colleagues at 9News Adelaide, who have become good friends. Alice is a dedicated, compassionate journalist. On top of that, she is a terrific and supportive friend of mine, especially in recent years through my cancer diagnosis and the birth of my son.
“My dream of being a TV newsreader started when I was a boy. It’s a role I am forever grateful for. I think it is going to be great to have Alice alongside me to bring the news to South Australians.”
They will commence together from Saturday August 31, Live from the Royal Adelaide Show.
