A man known as the “Angel of Death” has been shot in execution-style murder after a late-night meeting in Sydney.
Tarek Ayoub was leaving the meeting with an associate about 3.30am in Parramatta when he was gunned down, police said.
Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said it appeared Ayoub had been attacked by more than one gunman, with a large number of shots fired.

Emergency services treated Ayoub but he died at the scene on Harold Street.
About 3.45am, emergency services were called to A’beckett Street, Granville, to find a suspected getaway car on fire.
The car had previously been reported stolen.
Two men are believed to have been seen leaving the area in another car, which Doherty said had been reported as a white SUV.

Investigators are looking for potential links between the two incidents.
Doherty said there were currently “too many suspects, too many motives” to say why Ayoub had been targeted.
“He was a person who was very known for being involved in organised crime,” Doherty said.
“Mr Ayoub certainly lived by the sword and died by the sword.”
He said Ayoub had connections to multiple criminal networks and had been linked to past investigations into violent offences, including murder.

Ayoub previously pleaded guilty to concealing details about the murder of teenager Brayden Dillon, who was shot dead as he slept in his Glenfield home.
Ayoub was also charged after police found a Glock pistol under his couch along with drugs and cash.
Although Doherty confirmed the shooting was targeted and there was no ongoing risk to the public, he said police would seek to suppress and disrupt any other such attacks in coming weeks.
More than 30 investigators have been assembled to catch the killers.
It’s the city’s first gangland execution in nearly six months.
