Toll rebates worth almost $80 million are waiting to be claimed by New South Wales motorists, with some drivers eligible to receive thousands of dollars in cash refunds.

About 350,000 motorists across Sydney can claim back their toll road spending, according to new state government data.

At the start of this year, the government introduced a toll cap scheme, reducing the amount motorists have to pay to a maximum of $60 on roads.

To date, it has handed back $39 million to motorists, largely from Sydney’s west.

Government figures show drivers in Auburn have received the biggest average toll relief of $554. They are followed by motorists in Lakemba ($513) and Wiley Park ($461) with $254 the average rebate for all NSW drivers who claim.

There remains $79 million to be claimed by motorists from tolled trips since January 1.

Drivers who spend more than $60 and less than $400 per week can have their tolls refunded through the scheme. Toll costs over $400 can be partially refunded.

Motorists can claim up to a maximum of $340 per week for each tag or licence plate.

More than 6000 people who rely on toll roads most are on track to claim an average of $4000 each in relief this year.

Claims can be made quarterly for drivers who have linked their e-Tag to their Service NSW account.

Motorists have until June 30, 2025 to claim their road toll spending for this year.
