Two Melbourne mates have been killed while holidaying in Vietnam, with their families reaching out for help to bring back their remains.

Vincent Atulia, 24, and Andrew Colivas, 25, were keen boxers and lived in the city’s south-eastern suburbs.

It’s not clear when or how the two men died.

Their families have paid tribute to the men, creating separate fundraising campaigns to raise funds for funeral costs.

The Colivas family described Andrew Colivas as a “kind, generous and selfless person that loved his family, friends”.

“It is with great sadness that we share the message of the untimely passing of our beloved son and friend Andrew Colivas,” the fundraiser said.

“He tragically lost his life in Vietnam and It’s going to be a long process to bring him home. The (fundraiser) will assist with funeral costs and all other financial matters in this complicated situation and will help the family during this tough time.”

The family said the 25-year-old was a person who went “above and beyond to help and protect anyone”.

“He was a dedicated member of Saint Gregorios Orthodox Church and was devoted to his faith. We pray for strength during this time of grieving, may God bring you back home safely to us,” the fundraiser said.

The family of Vincent Atulia described the 24-year-old as a “young man that dedicated his life to his family and friends”.

“He was the epitome of great excellence. A young generous heart that always cared for others before himself,” the fundraiser said.

“Most that knew Vincent, knew that family and God were always the centre purpose of all that he did in his short life. He gave his life to provide and protect for his loving family.”

The Atulia family said he did not have adequate travel insurance and the money raised would help bring him home.

“Vincent was a faithful member of St. Agatha Church Parish Cranbourne. An aspiring rugby player for the Casey Warriors rugby league team,” the fundraiser said.

“A loyal and dedicated employee of MC Labour Hire. And an active CFMEU/ CFMEU Pasifika member. Vincent was also the sole financial provider to his family.”

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson said they were providing consular assistance to three Australians, and the family of a man who had died in Vietnam.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time. Owing to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment,” the spokesperson said.
