Homicide detectives are appealing for information on the death of Queensland grandmother Wendy Hansen, whose remains were found about 860km away from home in New South Wales earlier this year.

The 63-year-old was last seen withdrawing cash from an ATM on Newton Street in the Queensland suburb of Monto on February 29.

She was reported missing after failing to return home.

Police obtained CCTV in their search for Hansen, which showed her driving her silver Mitsubishi south on the Bruce Highway on the Sunshine Coast about 2.30pm that same day.

Months later on June 18, human remains were found half burned in bushland near the Jordan Esplanade in New South Wales’ Coffs Harbour.

Strike Force Osbox was set up to investigate her death and, today, detectives are appealing to the public for any information that may help.

They are specifically interested in the location of her car — a silver 2007 two-door Mitsubishi Pajero with Queensland registration 645TCZ — which still hasn’t been found.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact NSW Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
