A pilot has been taken to hospital after the light plane he was in crashed through a fence in the NSW Hunter Valley.

Two occupants were on board the aircraft when an incident occurred during landing at Cessnock Airport just after 12.15pm.

The male pilot, aged in his 50s, was treated by paramedics for multiple injuries.

He was transported to John Hunter Hospital.

The other patient declined treatment.

“Cessnock Airport has reported the incident to the Accident Transport Safety Board for assessment,” A spokesperson for the airport said.

“Operations at the airport are continuing.”
