NSW Liberal member for Pittwater Rory Amon has been charged following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

In June 2022, Northern Beaches detectives began investigating reports of an alleged sexual assault in Mona Vale in July 2017.

Police were told a teenage boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man – who was known to him – at an address in Mona Vale.

In March 2023, Strike Force Nooral was established to investigate.

Roderick ‘Rory’ Amon, 35, was arrested at Manly Police Station about 6am today.

He was charged with five counts of sexual intercourse with a person over 10 and under 14, two counts of attempted sexual intercourse with a child over 10 and under 14, two counts of indecent assault of a person under 16 years of age and act of indecency with a person under 16 years.

He was given strict conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on September 18.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.

Amon was elected as the member for Pittwater at the March 2023 NSW election.

He previously served as a councillor on the Northern Beaches Council from 2017 to 2023.
