Season 8 of The Great Australian Bake Off screens on Foxtel / Binge next week (7th season for Foxtel Group).
Judging again are Rachel Khoo and pastry chef Darren Purchese with hosts comedians Natalie Tran and the late Cal Wilson.
Cal Wilson completed 4 episodes prior to her passing, but family have given approval for the episodes to screen and honour her contribution.
This season sees 12 diverse amateur baking enthusiasts put through a series of challenges over 10 weeks. Each episode contains three themed baking challenges – Signature, Technical, and Showstopper. At the end of each episode, one contestant is named Star Baker and one is eliminated, until one is ultimately crowned Australia’s Best Amateur Baker.
Produced for Foxtel Originals by BBC Studios Productions Australia and based on a format created by Love Productions and licensed by BBC Studios, the series retains the wonderfully warm spirit of camaraderie, savvy take-home baking tips and heartfelt humour of its series 1 – 6 predecessors. On your marks, get set – Bake!
Episode One:
It’s Cake Week! 12 of Australia’s best amateur bakers are back in the Bake Off shed to kick off the first challenge. The excitement starts with a Signature Pull Apart Cake. In the Technical they will attempt to create Darren’s Passionfruit Chiffon Cake and for their first Showstopper challenge they will create an Epic Birthday Cake, for themselves. Judges Rachel Khoo and Darren Purchese will then decide who will be crowned the week’s Star Baker, and who will head home.
8:30pm Wednesday September 18 on LifeStyle.
