The community rallied to help following the crash.

“I went out and I saw wires all over the place.

“As many as 10 people were trying to assist, trying to smash the window.”

CCTV captured the Tesla at 10.45am as it appeared to almost side-swipe a car on West Terrace, before the vehicle turned onto Raymond Street and crashed.

The road was closed all afternoon as power crews carried out emergency repairs.

Many businesses on Raymond Street were forced to close for the day with no power available.

Bystanders were happy to help the driver and his passenger.

The couple in their 70s were taken to Liverpool Hospital with multiple injuries now stable.

The Tesla’s onboard data will likely be the key to determining the cause of the crash.
