Australian actor Simon Baker is set to be sentenced for drink-driving in a New South Wales court.

The television and movie star is expected to appear in Mullumbimby Local Court on the state’s north coast today.

The 55-year-old recently pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Lawyers representing The Mentalist star appeared in Mullumbimby Local Court to formally enter the plea last Wednesday.

A second charge of attempting to drive while under the influence of alcohol was withdrawn.

Baker’s most prominent role was on the hit TV show The Mentalist, enjoying a seven-season run playing a California Bureau of Investigation consultant.

It earned him a number of award nominations, including a Primetime Emmy nod for outstanding lead actor in a drama series.

Baker featured in some classic Australian TV programs including Home and Away and Heartbreak High, earning him Best New Talent at the 1993 Logies.

He made the move to the US, landing roles in films such as LA Confidential and The Devil Wears Prada.

Baker was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013.

He returned to Australia, recently starring in the Netflix series Boy Swallows Universe which won several Logies.
