Sydney sisters Maddy and Charlotte have joined The Block following the sudden exit of contestants Jesse and Paige.
The sisters, aged 24 and 22, are the youngest ever duo to compete on the reno show.
Die-hard fans of the show, they were on a shortlist of contestants who didn’t make the cut, but arrive from Sydney after 24 hours notice.
Both are experienced house flippers.
Maddy is an accounting graduate while Charlotte has done a business degree – but they bought their first house, a shack in Newcastle, in 2020 “with zero idea” of what they were getting themselves into.
According to Nine, they saved up for their first house deposit with money made through multiple part-time jobs babysitting, tutoring, doing shifts at McDonald’s and piano teaching, all while still studying.
Their Newcastle shack has since been renovated, subdivided and sold. They now have three builds on the go with more planned.
Thrown into the deep end of The Block, with a partly-renovated house, they must now complete
a master bedroom and walk-in-robe in just four-and-a-half days.
In last night’s episode contestant Kylie complained that the new duo will get special treatment.
“I think people will underestimate us but I like that challenge… we thrive off that,” Maddy said.
Charlotte added, “Yeah, I like proving people wrong.”
