More than half a kilo of ice and about $100,000 in cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime have been seized by Tasmania police during a targeted operation.

A 52-year-old man from West Ulverstone was arrested on Thursday after police found a backpack containing 135 grams of methylamphetamine and $3225 cash inside the car he was driving.

The 36-year-old passenger from Ulverstone allegedly left the scene.

He later presented to Devonport Police Station and has since been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and possessing a controlled drug.

Police later found a significant quantity of methylamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA and stolen property during subsequent searches of the Ulverstone area.

During the searches police seized about $100,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds of crime, along with 527 grams of methylamphetamine, 74 grams of cocaine, and 154 grams of MDMA.

A further search of a private residence in West Ulverstone led police to seize a further $4910 in cash, also believed to be proceeds of crime.

Both men were detained to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court today.
