It’s the Dolphin Cove Fun Run, and tragically local Curtis Faleafa collapses of an apparent heart attack at the finish line. In an incongruous coincidence Curtis left Mackenzie a cryptic voicemail right before his death. And if there’s one thing Mackenzie Clarke believes, it’s that there are no coincidences.
Could poison be behind Curtis’ death? But how could someone slip the poison into one cup of hundreds during the fun run, and ensure it would make its way to Curtis?
Colin is not sure he’s ready to let Mackenzie take the lead on this case, but she easily outmanoeuvres him, and he finds himself out of his dream house (the beach shack she offered him), his dream job, and paired with the person most antithetical to him in existence. And Colin’s not the only one not sold on Mackenzie. Her image with the Dolphin Cove residents is still as bad as it gets.
