Industry names attended a joint memorial for the late Reg Grundy & Joy Chambers-Grundy at Mitchell Theatre, State Library of NSW yesterday afternoon.
Tracy Grimshaw, who interviewed Grundy at home in Bermuda in 2010, was MC for the event presided over by UK Anglican Bishop Stephen Oliver.
Broadcaster Alan Jones stepped out to deliver a lengthy eulogy. Also speaking was TV veteran Annette Allison, a close friend to Joy Chambers-Grundy.
Neighbours star Stefan Dennis sang My Way and another song, composed by Grundy, with the Graham Lyle Orchestra. NIDA students sang a medley of TV themes including Neighbours, Prisoner and Sons & Daughters before actor Peter Mochrie joined them for The Restless Years.
It paid tribute to Grundy’s pioneering media achievements and wildlife photography, Chamber-Grundy’s career and novels, their philanthropy and 53 year marriage.
The Daily Telegraph reports in attendance were Greg Evans, Val Lehman, Barry Crocker, Benita Collings, Paula Duncan.
The event was held a year after the passing of Joy Chambers-Grundy.
