Jacinta Allan has kicked off her first overseas trip as Victorian premier by demanding more action to extradite Indian killer driver Puneet Puneet.
Puneet has been dodging extradition since he fled Australia in 2008 after he was charged with culpable driving when Dean Hofstee was hit and killed.
“This individual is clearly a coward … I support, the Victorian government supports his extradition back to Victoria,” Allan said.

Allan met with Australia’s high commissioner after jetting into Delhi last night for a four-day trade tour, where she hopes to strengthen ties with the Asian superpower.
“This is going to be an important part of our work here this week and an important part of the work we will be doing when we return … building for Victoria’s future, by having these strong strategic relationships here in India,” Allan said.
The premier has flagged the issue of a controversial international student cap will likely be a topic of conversation, but said she will also hold meetings about education, sport, culture and trade.

The premier also met with the CEO of Air India, looking to build upon the establishment of direct flights out of Melbourne Airport, where India is the biggest growth market.
“It’s grown 300 per cent in the past few years … so the opportunity is enormous,” Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus said.
India has become a well worn path for Victorian leaders, with the region viewed as “a logical trade partner”, according to Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive Paul Guerra.
“We really encourage the premier through this week … to score the business opportunities she can,” Guerra said.
