A young man who was trapped in his upturned car overnight after the vehicle plunged off a cliff in Melbourne’s outer east has been flown to hospital with serious injuries.
It is believed the car veered off the side of Mountain Highway, near Ferndale Track in Sassafras about 9pm yesterday.
Paramedics were called to the incident about 6.55am today, while police became aware of the incident about 7.20am.

The 26-year-old man from Olinda was left with upper and lower body injuries.
Vision from this morning shows the car overturned as paramedics assist at the scene.
