Former Seven journalist Amelia Saw has launched legal action in the Federal Court of Australia claiming her time working at the Spotlight program was a hostile working environment for women, among other allegations.
The Daily Telegraph reports she is suing the network under the Fair Work Act for “general breach of protections”.
She worked for about a year in 2022 before moving to the public relations job with the NSW Government.
Her claim does not involve allegations of sexual harassment.
Today Justice Perram ordered Ms Saw and Seven to engage in mediation between November 1 and 30. He ordered Seven to file and serve a defence to the claim by October 18 with Ms Saw to issue any response to that by November 1.
A Seven spokesman said: “Seven Network strongly and categorically rejects the allegations by Amelia Saw as reported by media today”.
The claims follow recent legal action by legal action against his former network, which was dropped without payment, settlement or concession by Seven to him.
Seven Network and Spotlight were recently the subject of a Four Corners investigation.
Ahead of the broadcast newly-installed CEO Jeff Howard sent an all-staff email saying that many of the matters expected to be raised in the program were “historical ones” which had already been “well ventilated”.
“If any of the issues they call out weren’t appropriately addressed, that disappoints me; we should have done better, and for that I’m sorry to those affected.
Ms Saw declined to comment.
