A man on a mobility scooter has died after a collision with a car in Sydney‘s west this afternoon.
The pedestrian, believed to be aged in his 80s, was treated by paramedics but was unable to be saved.
Police were called to the scene of the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Mulgoa Road and Ransley Street in Penrith at 12.45pm, in response to reports the man had been struck by a car which allegedly did not stop.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and a crime scene has been set up in the area.
The pedestrian has not been formally identified.
An hour later police arrested a man at Westfield Penrith and took him to Nepean Hospital for mandatory testing.
No charges have been laid at this stage.
