Perry performed some classics in California Gurls and Teenage Dream, with some of her newer material sprinkled in.

Perry then shocked the audience with a surprise guest, bringing Aussie legend Tina Arena to the stage for I Kissed A Girl.

As she sang her final song, Firework, fireworks were launched into the sky.

She ended her song pointing into the sky and telling the crowd, “Have a great game tonight! I love you, Australia!”

Perry’s entrance on a futuristic vehicle drew comparisons to Angry Anderson’s pre-game show in 1991.

It was heavily debated whether Perry would sing her hit song, Roar, on the Aussie stage, with some fans even claiming that it would give the Brisbane Lions an unfair advantage over the Sydney Swans.

The crowd hit fever pitch as the two grand-finalist teams entered the stadium, before Australian singer and former competitive swimmer Cody Simpson sang the national anthem.
