What shows are on your must-see TV list lately?
ZR: I’ve been obsessively waiting each week for new episodes of Slow Horses and Only Murders in the Building to drop, the new seasons of both are excellent. Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee is brilliant and hilarious, and as a nerdy speller I absolutely compete. And I just started watching The English Teacher, which has become an instant new fave. The writing is tight, the laughs are plentiful and it’s one of the best new American comedies around.

Which guilty pleasure show are you reluctant to admit watching?
ZR: The Kardashians. I sometimes put it on, and I enter a fugue state. There’s something hypnotic about that family, I can’t look away. Then I come to and realise 25 minutes has passed. It’s dangerous.

When you settle down for a night on the couch what are your ‘must-haves?’
ZR: A little blankey so my cat Norman can come and lay on me (he loves watching the footy, and any nature doco’s), my phone if I’m watching a story based on real events so I can google as I go, and a cup of tea.

What show would you secretly love to appear on?
ZR: Back Roads. It’s such a wonderful show, and I love hearing about a place I’ve never been before, and meeting people all over Australia. It celebrates how broad and diverse the nation is. I’d love to go on a Back Roads road trip.

What can we expect to see this season in Take 5 and what was your personal highlight?
ZR: Household names telling stories you’ve never heard before, and sharing the songs that shaped who they are today. We went to London to film with Bill Bailey, headed to Neil Finn’s own studio in Auckland for a yarn, and hung out with Dannii Minogue and Bernard Fanning in iconic music spaces in Melbourne. Filming Casey Donovan at the glorious State Theatre in Sydney, then Claudia Karvan at a club that used to be an Adult Bookstore, captures the broad texture of these shoots! It’s really hard to pick one highlight because every episode is so special but seeing Dannii share a very personal family story I had never heard before really hit me for six. I’m so honoured and proud that Take 5 is a place guests can open up and trust.

Take 5 with Zan Rowe screesn 8:30pm Tuesdays on ABC.
