A man is fighting for life after a brutal hammer attack during a rampage in the middle of the night in Perth.
Police were called to a unit complex on Arbon Way in Lockridge about 2am today after reports a man was smashing power boxes and causing a disturbance.
It’s alleged the victim, aged in his 40s, went to investigate the noise and was attacked by a 43-year-old man.

Police say the man forced entry into the victim’s unit and struck him with a hammer.
The victim was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious head injuries.
He remained fighting for his life this afternoon.

The 43-year-old was charged with grievous bodily harm and 10 counts of causing criminal damage to property.
Residents told 9News they woke to screaming and shouting before the alleged assault occurred.
The charged man has appeared before the Midland Magistrates Court.
