Gas cylinders sold from a Bunnings outlet in Western Australia have been recalled over safety fears.

The 8.5kg LPG exchange gas cylinders with Swap N Go branding were sold from Bunnings Geraldton on Wednesday, September 11, this year.

“Affected cylinders may have been overfilled, which could cause gas to be released from the safety valve in the cylinder,” Product Safety said in its recall notice.

There is a risk of serious burn injuries or property damage if the released gas meets an ignition source, or if the cylinder is connected to an appliance and feeds it liquid LPG instead of gas.

There is also a risk of serious injury from cold burns if somebody comes into contact with the gas as it releases from the valve.

People are urged to stop using the cylinder immediately and disconnect it from any appliance.

Customers should contact Elgas to arrange collection of the recalled cylinder and get a replacement provided free of charge.

Elgas can be contacted on 0438 698 072 or via email at redreed@westnet.com.au.
