A 34-year-old man was also shot in the thigh and was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police had received reports of a stolen car being located at Lane Street in Wentworthville.

They then entered an underground car park of the unit block, when the allegedly stolen car was driven towards them.

“As they walked down the driveway they found a locked garage door with a car inside, as they opened the garage the vehicle accelerated towards them,” South West Metropolitan Region Commander Paul Dunstan said at the time.

Liebe was the alleged driver of the car, which was allegedly stolen from the home of state Labor MP Karen McKeown.
