King Charles will touch down in Sydney in 24 hours, and there’s no one more excited than a special group of school children who today found out that they’ll be dancing for the monarch and his wife.
The kids from Canley Heights have been working on a dance routine for weeks, but weren’t told why until today.
Students told 9News that they couldn’t wait for the big performance, which will take place at the NSW Premier’s BBQ at Parramatta Park next week.

“I can’t believe that we are performing for the King and Queen, it is just so exciting,” one student told 9News.
“I just want to know how he is doing, if he is well,” another said.
Charles is still undergoing cancer treatment every 11 days but has paused that for the duration of the tour.
He is still being monitored closely, with doctors bringing a supply of his own blood to the event, in the case of an emergency.

The barbecue will host 500 guests, including local leaders like Bridget Sakr, who sparked a passion for change within the community after her daughter Veronique and her three cousins were killed in a car crash in 2020.
“I hope they can feel that and can resonate with the passion and the purpose that the people from the Inner West and western communities absolutely have,” Sakr said.
Young Australian of the Year Dr Daniel Nour will also join the royals at the barbecue, with a message for the King about homelessness.

“If there’s one message I would really like to convey to the King and Queen, it’s the importance of thinking of alternative ways of delivering healthcare to people experiencing homelessness,” Nour said.
The King will touches down on Friday and will stay until Wednesday next week.
The short but packed schedule includes a stop at the Canberra War Memorial and Parliament House, then onto the Sydney Harbour and Opera House.
They will also visit the Man O’War Steps and embark on the Admiral Hudson vessel.
The King will attend the barbecue in Parramatta on Tuesday before leaving the following day.
