According to the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, Laidley was swept away by the current at Balian Beach, West Selemadeg, Tabanan Regency.

The beach is on Bali’s south-west coast, about 30 kilometres from Denpasar.

Denpasar Search and Rescue Office head Nyoman Sidakarya said 10 people on his team tried to find the missing Australian, who is from Perth, on Wednesday night and another search took place yesterday afternoon.

They used rubber boats and other vessels but conditions were difficult.

“Information from the team at the location [is] that the wave conditions are extreme and while the search is being conducted, there is no sign of the victim,” Sidakarya said.

Jayke Laidley, one of Craig’s relatives, posted on social media calling for help to find him.
