A man has been arrested after a woman’s body was found in Melbourne’s north-east this morning.

Police have declared a crime scene at a home in Reid Street in South Morang where the woman was found deceased about 10am.

She is yet to be formally identified and the exact circumstances of her death have not been confirmed.

A 33-year-old South Morang man is in custody and is expected to be questioned in relation to the death.

Police said both parties “spent time at the house” where the woman’s body was found, but said they were still investigating the exact circumstances of their living arrangements.

The death is being treated as suspicious.

Police do not yet know when the woman died, but said she last spoke to loved ones “sometime over the weekend”.

Forensic police will remain at the home “well into the night” to comb through the crime scene in the hope of piecing together what may have transpired.
