Apple has announced its second new product of the week with an all-new Mac Mini now available for pre-order, shipping and available from November 8.

Yesterday, Apple refreshed the standalone all-in-one desktop iMac computer with its latest M4 Apple Silicon, today it’s the Mac Mini’s turn but this one is a bigger refresh for the model.

The desktop computer can be connected to almost any type of screen, allowing it to be used as a regular desktop with a single monitor or a more complex setup with multiple monitors and input devices.

The new generation Mini looks to a keen Apple eye like a shrunk-down version of the high-performance Mac Studio.

Measuring just 12.7×12.7 centimetres, it’s less than half the size of the previous generation – a form factor which had lasted well over a decade.

Featuring the Apple Silicon M4 processor, it offers speeds 1.6 times faster than the M2 but will also be available with a newly announced M4 Pro chip.

The M4 Pro can have up to a 20-core GPU and 14-Core CPU with a 16-Core Neural Engine, which is in part the key to the Mac Mini’s compatibility with Apple Intelligence.

Apple’s AI features will launch in Australia in December on newer iPhones and Mac devices.

Importantly, the new Mac Mini comes to Australia at the same entry price as the previous generation, $999.

The Mac Mini with M4 Pro is $2199 – $200 more than the previous Pro-chip-equipped model.
