MasterChef Australia locked onto its semi finalists with the shock elimination last night of seafood expert, Harry Butterfield -in a seafood pressure test.

The episode saw his food hero Josh Niland set a challenging Flounder Kandinsky.

“The cook itself it was technical extremely difficult,” the Queenslander told 10 Play.

“The time pressure was insane but I put a lot of pressure on myself. I was the self-proclaimed fish guy and I brought that pressure upon myself. I wanted to prove to myself and to Josh that I am skilled with seafood…. I guess, the pressure of cooking for your food and the pressure of it being a fish dish when I’m the ‘seafood guy’ the pressure was intense.

“With other pressure tests I went into (them) thinking ‘This is it. I just have to try my best’ and that’s it. In this one I wasn’t trying to do my best. I was trying to be perfect.”

His exit at the eleventh hour in the series sees three remaining cooks: Savindri, who was brought back after previously being eliminated, Tassie butcher Josh aka ‘Pezza’ and Thai-Australian Nat who has wowed judges but barely escaped elimination last night.

Next Monday night another will be eliminated before Tuesday’s grand final and a $250,000 prize.

MasterChef Australia 7:30pm Sunday – Tuesday on 10.
