Former President Donald Trump has described the moment a bullet grazed his head in an attempted assassination attempt in a leaked phone call with an independent presidential candidate.

Bobby Kennedy III, son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., shared a video of a phone call with former President Trump.

During the call, Trump recounted the Pennsylvania shooting, describing the bullet that hit his ear as “sounding like the world’s largest mosquito.”

In the video, Trump was also heard on speakerphone saying: “I would love you to do something – and I think it would be so good for you and so big for you”.

“We’re gonna win… We’re way ahead of the guy,” Trump told Kennedy.

Trump also appeared to express some scepticism toward public health professionals and vaccines.

Kennedy apologised for the leaked video almost immediately and removed the post from social media.

“When President Trump called me I was taping with an in-house videographer,” he said on X.

“I should have ordered the videographer to stop recording immediately. I am mortified that this was posted.

“I apologise to the president.”

The phone call came one day before Trump and Kennedy met in Milwaukee.

Kennedy campaign spokesperson Stefanie Spear told CNN the two presidential candidates discussed “national unity” during the meeting.

A source familiar with the conversation said the two also discussed Trump’s vice presidential nomination decision hours before he selected Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his running mate.

Trump made his first public appearance yesterday since the assassination attempt, arriving at the Republican National Convention with his injured ear in a bandage.

He recieved a rockstar’s welcome at the first day of the Republican National Convention.
