RAM is recalling more than 1200 utes across Australia due to a software issue affecting the vehicles’ brake system.

The US pick-up truck maker issued a recall notice for the RAM 2500 model, which was released between 2021 and 2022.

“Due to a software issue with the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) may fail,” the notice reads.

“This may result in a loss of vehicle control.

“A loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

The recall, published by RAM and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, includes a list of VINs for vehicles affected by the recall.

Owners impacted by the recall are advised to contact their local RAM dealership to have their vehicle’s ABS control module reprogrammed, free of charge.
