Eureka Productions has won the right to produce a new Willy Wonka-themed reality contest for Netflix according to US reports, and there is a chance the show could be filmed in Australia.

Australian-US based Eureka beat out a number of other production companies including Wall to Wall (Who Do You Think You Are?), Nobody’s Hero (Bullsh*t: The Game Show), The Garden (Squid Game: The Challenge) and even a separate bid by its own parent company Fremantle, according to Deadline.

As one source said, it came down to “Which pitch do we like the most?”.

Eureka has previously produced The Mole, Byron Baes and Dating Around for Netflix plus US shows including Frogger, The Floor, The Quiz with Balls, Stars on Mars and Name That Tune.

TV Tonight understands the series could potentially film in Australia.

Eureka was founded around nine years ago by Chris Culvenor and Paul Franklin.
