UK-US period drama, My Lady Jane, has been axed by Prime Video just seven weeks after its debut.

The series, which combined romance and alternate-world fantasy, is based on a novel by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows.

Set in a 16th century England where humans coexist with shape-shifters, it centred around Jane Grey (Emily Bader) known as a Verity, who becomes sympathetic to the oppressed shape-shifters, known as Ethians — which will become a problem for the ruling class as Jane rises to power.

The cast also included Edward Bluemel, Rob Brydon, Dominic Cooper, Anna Chancellor, Jordan Peters, Kate O’Flynn, Henry Ashton, Jim Broadbent, Ollie Chris, and Aussie Joe Klocek.

My Lady Jane drew 914% from critics at Rotten Tomatoes and 81% from audiences, which does beg the question as to why it was cancelled….
