Australia has recorded its highest winter temperature since records began.
While much of the nation is experiencing a warm end to winter, a weather station in Western Australia has likely set a record.
According to Weatherzone, Yampi Sound in the Kimberley region registered a temperature of 41.5 degrees shortly before 3pm today (5pm AEST).

If verified, it will beat the previous record of 41.2 degrees at West Roebuck, also in Western Australia, on August 23, 2020.
South Australia also set new winter maximum temperature records on Friday and Saturday in the outback town of Oodnadatta.
It was 39.4 degrees on Saturday afternoon, Weatherzone said.
Meanwhile Sydney today was 24.4 degrees at 1pm and Melbourne recorded 15.8 degrees at midday.

Brisbane was 27.8 degrees at the same time, with records set to fall in Queensland.
Records have already been broken in western Queensland and with temperatures across the south-east set to reach the mid-30s this week, it could be one of the state’s hottest winter weeks on record.
Adelaide was a cooler 16.1 degrees just before lunch time.
The unseasonably warm winter a is a huge concern for climate experts, yet it doesn’t come as a surprise.
Australia’s snow season has come to an early end thanks to the weather.
