The Carlton coach is believed to have tackled one of the offenders after witnessing the crash while picking up his morning coffee at the Barton Milk Bar.

“It was a bit of action… I was hoping to be on a couple of days break but it’s all good here,” Voss told 9News.

“I have spoken to the police but everyone is safe and healthy and that is all that matters.

“Hopefully it will get dealt with quickly.”

The incident unfolded in front of a crowd of onlookers and schoolchildren walking along the busy street.

More to come.
