A man has been charged with a domestic violence offence after allegedly pointing a crossbow at another man in NSW.

Police were called to a home on Queen Elizabeth Drive in Wentworth Falls, in the Blue Mountains, at 5.30pm yesterday.

A 49-year-old man had allegedly pointed a crossbow at a man known to him.

The man was arrested at about 10.10pm with the assistance of PolAir and the Tactical Operations unit.

He was taken to Katoomba Police Station, where he was charged with possessing a prohibited weapon, armed with intent and breaching an apprehended domestic violence order.

He was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta bail court today.
