A driver has been charged over an alleged hit-and-run after a dying man was found lying alone on a Perth street on Sunday night.

A passer-by spotted the 50-year-old man lying unresponsive on the road at the intersection of Ravenswood Drive and Hillsborough Drive in the northern Perth suburb of Nollamara at around 9.20pm.

Emergency services were called but the man died at the scene.

An investigation by WA’s Major Crash Investigation Section was launched, leading to the arrest of a 65-year-old Westminster man yesterday.

He has since been charged with careless driving causing death as well as failing to stop and render assistance and failing to report the incident.

He has been refused bail and is scheduled to attend Perth Magistrates Court today.
